Whistler dining reservations are hard to come by in the height of the beautiful, but busy, winter season. However, there are several restaurants in Whistler that don’t require reservations so I thought I’d share my five fave here.
Bar Oso, nominated as one of Canada’s ‘Best New Restaurants’ in 2016, offers Spanish inspired tapas and small plates utilizing local BC ingredients. Be sure to check out their handcrafted cocktails like the feature Gin + Tonics, or my favourite, the signature Oso Sour made with bacon infused bourbon, maple syrup, chartreuse, and garnished with maple candied bacon. Dee-lish!
Hours: 11:30am to late
La Cantina is located in Marketplace and opened a second location in November 2017 at Nesters, a 20-minute walk from the main village. Tacos are their specialty but I highly recommend their bowls. They offer loads of gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options which was a pleasant surprise. La Cantina also serves margaritas.
Cuisine: Mexican fusion
Hours: 11:30am to 9:00pm
Alpine Café, an eclectic restaurant I’ve mentioned in other posts, is known by locals as one of the best Whistler breakfast spots, but they're also know for their hearty lunches and daily dinner specials. The baked goodies and coffees are delicious - try the Nutella Latte, you won’t regret it! You can also jam to live music every Friday night.
Cuisine: Casual Pub Fare
Hours: 6:30am to 9:00pm
Portobello Deli at Fairmont Chateau Whistler is newly renovated and locally renowned for breakfast bowls, enormous made-to-order sandwiches, and smokehouse dinners (every man I know raves about the porchetta so give that a go). The bacon maple cream doughnut is absolutely legendary.
Hours: 7:00am to 9:00pm
Samurai Sushi has two locations; one in Creekside and one at Nesters. Samurai is a local’s favourite, known for fast, quality sushi made fresh at a very affordable price. It’s definitely one of the best Whistler takeout or eat-in spots. Try their signature Samurai Roll and their seasonal rolls, and of course some sake.
Hours: 11:00am to 10:00pm
